Lithuania is the anthropomorphic personification of a nation, and he's had a really shit couple of decades. He's come from 1944 and in the last 50 years shit has got realler than like...EVER. After slipping out of the restrictive and bullying grasp of Russia and finally restablishing his independence in 1918, his closest friend and ally of old, Poland, had turned against him, and ended up grabbing his capital in 1922, literally tearing out his heart and leaving him lost and furious at the betrayal. He was taken prisoner by Germany for a time, and eventually released in 1926, but things couldn't be the same. His ages-old friendship with Poland had turned to bitterness, and the other nation still held stubbornly onto his beloved Vilnius region, and refused to give way.
With war again stirring in Europe and Poland falling to Russia, Lithuania was forced to strike an alliance in 1939 with the nation who had controlled him for so long, scared to lose his newfound independence and unready to deal with Russia's power. In return, Vilnius was finally returned to him, but the scars and the anger remained. And matters only got worse when Russia broke his word only a few months later, and invade. Rather than fight a losing battle, Lithuania and his brothers went quietly with him, back into his cold and brutal house.
WW2 was, if anything, worse for Liet. With Germany's invasion of the USSR, Lithuania fell into the hands of the Nazis, who all but tore him apart, the Holocaust leaving him weak, bathed in his people's blood, with his substantial Jewish population in particular all but wiped out. And without time to recover, once the Germans retreated in 1944, he returned not to his own comfortable house, but to Russia's overbearing control. What remains of his strength and his will to resist is being swiftly sapped by Russia's tendency to punish him harshly for the slightest misdeed. All that keeps him going now is the knowledge that his brothers need him to be strong, and although he no longer trusts Poland, he will protect even him.
Lithuania is a fictional character, (c) to Himuraya-sensei and played by Ayu for roleplaysoddly. No copyright violation or offence to anyone involved in Lithuanian history is intended.
